Zovo Citation Generator
APA, MLA and Chicago citations from a DOI or ISBN
Zovo Citation Generator looks up DOI and ISBN metadata to format APA, MLA and Chicago citations with BibTeX, RIS and text downloads. A manual entry covers sources that have no DOI or ISBN.
What it does
- Live registered DOI and ISBN metadata: authors, titles, years, journals, volumes, issues, pages and publishers
- APA 7, MLA 9, Chicago author-date and Chicago notes-bibliography formatting, with the style rules for 1, 2, 3, up to 21+ authors
- A manual entry for books, articles, chapters and web pages without a DOI or ISBN
- BibTeX, RIS and a sorted text reference list for your reference manager or paper
- Warnings when a record is missing a year, an author, a journal or a publisher, instead of inventing a value
Try asking
“Turn 10.1038/nphys1170 into an APA 7 citation”
“Cite ISBN 9780140328721 in MLA 9”
“Make a BibTeX file for these DOIs: 10.1038/nphys1170 and 10.1103/PhysRevLett.116.061102”
Limitations
- Uses Crossref and Open Library; a record those services do not have cannot be looked up (use the manual tool)
- Styles: APA 7, MLA 9, Chicago 17
- Legal, patent and dataset records get a generic format with a warning
- No account is kept; generated downloads expire after one hour
